UPDATE 3:00pm 12-13-24: Emergency Road Closure on Eastbound K-68 due to Water Main Break
The City of Ottawa Utility Department has made repairs to the area and eastbound K-68 is now open. City crew will plan on reducing it to one lane starting Tuesday, December 17th for concrete repairs. Details on that project will be available next week. Thank you.
City of Ottawa Announces Water Main Break and Temporary Road Closure
Ottawa, KS – The City of Ottawa Utility Department announces an emergency road closure due to a water main break on K-68. The details are as follows:
Location of Closure: Both eastbound lanes of K-68 near the rear entrance of Ottawa COOP and Casey’s.
Start Time: Approximately 9:00 AM on Friday, December 13, 2024.
Duration: Crews will be in the area for an extended period of time to repair the leak. Updates on the reopening of the road will be provided as the situation progresses.
Traffic Impact and Detour:
Eastbound K-68: Closed near the incident site.
Detour Route: Motorists will be directed to Tecumseh Street on the east side of the K-68 River bridge. This detour will provide vehicle access to eastbound K-68 from Main Street.
Signage: Clear signage will be in place to guide motorists through the detour route safely.
