CITY OF OTTAWA INTRODUCES NEW CITY ALERT SYSTEM
City of Ottawa Introduces a New City Alert System for Enhanced Public Safety
The City of Ottawa, KS is proud to announce the launch of its advanced City Alert System in collaboration with Everbridge, a state-of-the-art platform designed to bolster public safety and ensure efficient communication during emergencies and critical events. This initiative represents a significant upgrade from the previous alert system and underscores our commitment to safeguarding our residents.
Please note:
Residents must sign up to be added to the New City Alert System. Sign up here: www.ottawaks.gov/city-alerts
If you signed up for the previous City Alert System, you will need to sign up again in the new system. This is because the previous system didn’t have geolocation data that would enable targeted alerts based on your address.
Key features of the new City Alert System include:
Multi-Channel Communication: The new City Alert System leverages multiple communication channels, including text messages, email, voice calls, social media, and mobile app notifications, to reach a broad audience swiftly and effectively.
Geo-Targeted Alerts: Residents who sign up will receive alerts tailored to their specific location, ensuring that pertinent information is delivered precisely where it is needed, minimizing confusion, and maximizing responsiveness during critical situations.
Enhanced Reliability: Built on robust infrastructure and supported by redundant systems, the City Alert System offers unparalleled reliability, guaranteeing that messages are delivered promptly, even in adverse conditions.
Accessibility and Inclusivity: The new system is designed to be accessible to all members of our diverse community, with features such as multilingual support and compatibility with assistive technologies to ensure that critical information reaches everyone, regardless of individual needs.
This advanced system signifies the City of Ottawa's commitment to keeping residents informed and safe in the face of emergencies and potential hazards. Whether it's power outages, flooding advisories, or other emergency notifications, residents who sign up can rest assured that they will receive timely and reliable information to help them make informed decisions and stay safe.
As we embrace this new era of emergency communication, we urge all residents to familiarize themselves with the City Alert System and ensure they are signed up to receive alerts.
