Ottawa Golf Course management transition
Dear Valued Golf Course Member,
Thank you for your continued patronage and a fantastic 2024 season! As we wind down the season, we are writing to inform you of a management transition for the Ottawa Golf Course.
Beginning December 30, 2024, the City of Ottawa will assume management of the Ottawa Golf Course. GreatLife and the City of Ottawa are working together to provide a seamless transition for all current members and our local golfing community. We are eager to build on the strong foundation that GreatLife has established, and believe that this new direction will provide many benefits to our valued patrons, including:

Improved course maintenance to ensure optimal playing conditions.

New programs and events tailored to golfers of all skill levels, including leagues, tournaments, clinics,and social gatherings.

Streamlined communication and exceptional customer service.

As we prepare for this transition, we want to assure you that your existing membership will remain valid through March 31, 2025. Additionally, we are offering a seamless transfer process to ensure that there is no disruption to your access or benefits. Your current membership terms, including any remaining balance or credits, will be honored by the City of Ottawa.
Key Details Regarding the Transition:
Existing memberships
Beginning December 30, 2024, all active and paid memberships will be honored through March 31, 2025.
2025 course fees
Course fees for 2025 will be released in December 2024. A new dedicated website and social media platforms will have updated information.
Course transition closure
The course will be closed to play and business from December 31, 2024, through January 14, 2025; re-opening on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
Current memberships will be honored for continued play at the other GreatLife courses in DeSoto, Kansas or Gardner, Kansas.

Cart storage
If you are currently storing your cart at the course, please look for additional communication coming to you in the month of December 2024.
GreatLife Fitness
GreatLife Fitness will continue operations at the fitness center located at 221 South Main Street through March 31, 2025. This is the end of the current contract year. Please contact GreatLife at 785-242-3734 or at greatlifeottawa@yahoo.com.

Head Golf Professional/General Manager:
The City of Ottawa is excited to announce the hiring of Rob Mlynar, PGA, as the new General Manager and Head Golf Professional for the Ottawa Golf Course. A seasoned golf professional with extensive experience in golf operations, tournament coordination, and player development, Rob brings a wealth of expertise and a passion for the game to the community.
Rob, a native of Lyndon, KS, and an Ottawa University alumnus, returns to the area with a strong connection to the local community and a deep understanding of the Ottawa Golf Course's significance. He has spent over a decade honing his skills in the golf industry, serving as an Associate Golf Professional at Ironhorse Golf Club and holding leadership roles at esteemed courses such as Milburn Country Club and Oakwood Country Club.
Rob's achievements include:
• Successfully managing golf merchandising operations exceeding $345,000 annually.
• Coordinating over 100 tournaments and events annually, enhancing player experience and operational efficiency.
• Leading junior golf programs that served over 200 youth, fostering the next generation of golfers.
• Streamlining league management using cutting-edge tools like Golf Genius to improve communication and tournament outcomes.
“I’m honored to return to Ottawa and join the City’s efforts to reimagine and revitalize the Ottawa Golf Course,” said Rob. “This facility holds a special place in my heart, and I look forward to enhancing the player experience, growing the game of golf locally, and reconnecting the course with the community.”
As a PGA of America member, Rob is committed to excellence in customer service, course operations, and building programs that welcome golfers of all skill levels. His vision includes elevating course conditions, introducing innovative programming, and fostering a culture of community engagement.
Rob will begin working with golfers and community members on January 15, 2025, with the reopening of the Ottawa Golf Course under City management.
