Fire Watch
A fire watch is a short term, emergency measure to provide an acceptable level of life safety in a building that has an impaired fire safety system.

Burn Permit
To request a burn permit, call: 785-229-3700
​All open burning shall be in accordance with 2018 International Fire Code (IFC) section 307.

Permits are issued on a daily basis the day of burning

No burning during county wide burn ban
-
Wind speed must be below 8 mph for the duration of the burn
-
Only yard waste may be burned (leaves, sticks, branches).

No lumber, cardboard, trash, etc. may be burned
-
A responsible adult must monitor the fire at all times.

A charged water hose must be readily available at all times during the fire.

Burn permits are valid from sun rise until sunset, the day the permit is issued.

Recreational Fire Pits
Usage of recreational fire pits is permitted in accordance with 2018 International
Fire Code (IFC) section 307.​
