The infrastructure projects for the new Holiday Inn Express project are anticipated to begin in the next month. The City of Ottawa, New Generation Construction, Killough Construction, and Flory Backhoe Inc., KDOT, Bartlett & West Engineering, and utility representatives held a preconstruction conference on Wednesday as the last step in the process before construction begins. The project is expected to begin in late February.
The improvements will include a new road south of 23rd Street, South King Street that will end in a cul-de-sac at the property line of the hotel. The road improvements include sidewalks and underground stormwater. Water line improvements will connect from Princeton to the water line adjacent to the Prairie Spirit Rail Trail. Due to the water line crossing, some rerouting or surface disruption could occur on the trail, though should be minimal. The infrastructure projects are anticipated to be complete in late spring, with the hotel complete by the end of 2018. Hours of work will generally be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
